Who are we?
Metallium Jewellery (formerly Karen Smith Jewellery & Metal Design) was established in 2013 by Jewellery designer/maker Karen Smith.
Karen has over 20 years’ experience in the jewellery trade, is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design and has worked for several jewellery companies in Scotland, Canada and Holland.
Drawing inspiration for her jewellery from all aspects of life, songs, stories, and the magic to be found in the everyday. Karen’s work focuses on universal storytelling symbols, such as locks, keys and hearts; encouraging the wearer to infuse the piece with deeper meaning and wear their stories as they wear the jewellery.

At Metallium jewellery there are different ways to shop with us. There's our online shop where you can buy our handmade designs. Karen can also create bespoke pieces for you with our commission, Wedding and memorial jewellery services. Allowing you to create a piece to mark a memorable time in your life.

I gave my Grandson’s wife a voucher for a jewellery making class. I was interested so booked to go along too.
We had a great day and both produced lovely jewellery to take home. Karen is a fantastic teacher. She explained each step of the process in detail and provided practical and easy to follow demonstrations of each stage. Her classes are small (there were only the two of us) so she had plenty of time to provide each of us with individual tuition. She is also extremely patient and is eager to share her knowledge and expertise.
I would highly recommend her classes and think a voucher for one is a fabulous and unusual gift idea. She also produces some beautiful and different jewellery.
